The Kansas City KS Fiberglas plant is one of Owens-Corning’s Midwest fiberglass insulation and reinforcement manufacturing sites, supplying building insulation, industrial insulation, and Fiberglas reinforcement products to the greater KC industrial and construction market. The plant operates high-temperature glass-melting furnaces, forming machines, curing ovens, and finishing lines — all built during the pre-1973 asbestos era with asbestos-containing thermal-insulation, gasket, and refractory materials consistent with Fiberglas plant design of the period.

- Asbestos sprayed fireproofing on structural steel (pre-1973 EPA ban)

Plaintiffs allegedly worked at the Kansas City Fiberglas plant in trades including HFIAW Insulators, UA Pipefitters, IBB Boilermakers, BAC Bricklayers (furnace relining), IBEW Electricians, Millwrights, Fiberglas forming machine operators, and furnace tenders.
